We currently have a new website :www.brewoodsingers.co.uk, Facebook
page Brewood Singers and a Twitter feed @BrewoodSingerss You
will be given a copy of the constitution and this is worth reading
as it gives the aims, objectives etc for the Singers.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals normally take place on Thursday evenings, from 7.30pm
to 9.30pm with a short break.
These rehearsals are at our new venue in the Peakman Theatre
at St Dominics School, 32 Bargate Street, Brewood ST19 3BA and
will be with our new accompanist, Dom Treharne.
How to
find the Peakman Theatre, our rehearsal venue...

(COVID
19 Precautions - masks may be worn when entering and leaving
the building, being removed when singing. Hand santisers will
be available at the room entrance. Members should have had vaccinations,
or testing negative with a lateral test that day.)
Committee
The constitution sets out the make- up of the committee and the
function of the committee is to ensure that the choir runs smoothly
and that we uphold the constitution of the Singers.
The committee includes a Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer
and up to four other elected representatives from the membership
and the Musical Director. Each year there is an AGM - held in
September or October where members may raise and discuss issues
and a new committee is elected. Anyone may stand for election
for any position.
The
committee meets regularly and the meetings happen at committee
members houses on a rota basis by arrangement.
Membership Subscriptions
Subscriptions are currently £4.00 per week that we meet.
These can be transferred to our bank account or paid at meetings.
An annual payment can be made - please see the Treasurer for
details, Weekly subscriptions are payable whether you attend
all rehearsals or not as this is part of your membership fee.
Please see the Treasurer if there is to be a prolonged absence
or suspension of membership for personal reasons. If you do not
keep up to date with your subscriptions you cannot perform at
concerts. The money raised by the subscriptions helps to pay
for the rehearsal room, sheet music, music and performance equipment,
accompanist fees and Musical Director expenses.
Dress Code
At present the standard dress for most concerts is Men: black
suits with long sleeved white collared shirt and a bow tie. This
is usually black but you will be notified and supplied with a
tie if a different colour is required.
Ladies: Long black skirts or smart black trousers and any black
top with at least ¾ sleeves. Where there is a variation
to this you will be notified. For example; the Christmas concert
in Church will usually be long skirts with no trousers.
All
members provide their own standard clothes as above but the Singers
provide scarves for ladies and ties - other than black bow ties
- for the men when required. Any accessories supplied by the
Singers remain the property of Brewood Singers.
General information
Attendance
We understand that no one can be at every rehearsal so if you
cannot attend please let David Brookes, our MD know. However
we do expect 75% attendance.
Music
All music that is provided by Brewood Singers remains the property
of Brewood Singers. Sets of music are either purchased in hard
copy or purchase via Digital Download. When you are a member,
you will be given a rehearsal/performance folder which you will
sign for. The member must pay for any music which is lost or
not returned. Lists of music to be handed in will be sent to
you.
Anyone
may suggest a piece for consideration for us to learn and perform.
If you have a copy please bring it and give it to either the
Musical Director or a member of the committee. If you don't have
a copy of the music but think a certain piece would be good to
do then please see or email the Secretary.
Folders
One branded performance folder will be provided and you may purchase
further folders if you wish. Please see the Treasurer, Chair
or Secretary.
Membership
You will be asked to fill in a membership form and you will be
given a copy of the constitution to keep and read.
Concerts
We organise two of our own concerts each year: these are our
Summer and Christmas concerts and are held in Brewood either
at the Jubilee Hall or St Mary and St Chad Parish Church. If
you have any suggestions for concerts or you know of an organisation
who may want one, please speak with the Musical Director or any
of the committee members.
Social
Events
We do try and hold social events where partners are welcome during
the year. We have an annual post-Christmas meal in January each
year and there are other ad hoc events that are arranged from
time to time,
And
