'Come and Sing' Concert Saturday 2nd July 2005 at St Mary & St Chad's Parish Church, Brewood. 7.00pm
We started the season with our usual 'Singing at the Switching on of Brewood Lights' on 20th November.  A little early this year but it went off well as usual.

Our Christmas concert went well with our usual 'church packed' audience.

We did a concert for the Inner Wheel in Brewood Church, one Friday night in February.  The audience was large, everyone performed well and an excellent time was had by all.  We finished with a resounding 'Land Of Hope And Glory' with Jean Martyn on the Organ and the Cannock Salvation Army Band, the Brewood Singers and the Audience.

The Cafe Society joined us in the Jubilee Hall in April with their 'early 20th century period pieces and humour' and in June we went over to Tamworth to join with the Tamworth Male Voice Choir for a concert in St John's R.C. Church.  I will always remember this concert for the good acoustics in the building, the compliments about our singing and our first performance of the 'William Tell Overture' which went just a little faster than any of us had intended!!

Perhaps the most exciting concert was our summer concert, (in spite of a much smaller than usual audience) where we invited people to come to sing 'Jesu Joy Of Man's Desiring' (Bach), 'For The Beauty Of The Earth' (Rutter), 'Ave Verum' (Mozart), 'The Lord Bless You And Keep You' (Rutter) and 'Zadok The Priest' (Handel).  We all practised together at 4pm until 5.30pm and the concert started at 7pm.  We (the Brewood Singers) performed some pieces on our own from our usual repertoire, our guest sprano Sue Bond entertained us with some religious and lighter numbers and we did the combined items with the 'Come and Singers' and topped the evening off with a enthusiastic rendering of 'Jerusalem'.  Our guest organist and accompanist for the evening was Margaret Simpson Everyone seemed to enjoy the day and many of our guests and audience left asking if there will be another one next year!!  Sorry but the answer actually is 'no' as we have already made plans for a different type of concert next summer - perhaps another year!

As well as individuals we were pleased to welcome singers from: 'Arthur Terry Choir' (Sutton Coldfield), 'Cadence' (Telford), 'Ceramic Choir' (Stoke-on-Trent), 'Friday Choir' (Walsall), 'Hoylake Choral Society', 'Marston Singers' (Wolverhampton), Penn Singers (Penn, Wolverhampton), Polesworth Abbey Choir (N.Warks), Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir (Liverpool), Short Heath Singers (Short Heath, Wolverhampton), Viva Musica. (Apologies to anyone who has been missed out - please let me know and I will amend)
