What a great way to start the season - our return visit to Ogmore Vale for a joint concert with the Ogmore Valley Male Voice Choir.  Most of us went down by coach from Brewood and we arrived about 5.15pm.  We were welcomed with a cup of tea and biscuits before the concert and were well fed at the after concert 'bash' and before our return journey.  The concert itself was very good and both Ogmore and ourselves were really appreciated by the audience.

This year we have had our usual successful round of concerts (Listed above), ranging from the smaller concerts at Homebell House (sheltered housing for the elderley), a delightful concert for the Walton Gardeners and an invite to sing in a concert with members of the 18th Century Orchestral at the Brewood Music Festival.  This last event will alvays be rememberd by me, not for the music but for the events leading up to my arrival!!  Yes. it's another car breakdown.  It went something like this:

My usual holiday scenario where the car breaks down and I have to be recovered seems to get earlier every year! This year it started last night when the car overheated on the way to the concert and we were stranded on the M6 just south of junction 12. Carol didn't get to the concert - she waited with the car for the Green Flag and I walked up the slip road - armed with music and music stand to meet David and Pam who were patiently waiting for me on the Junction 12 island. The funny thing was as I was walking, a car stopped and offered me a lift to the island. He had travelled from Stratford and was telling me how bad the traffic was. I told him where I was going and about the lift from the island. As I was getting out the car I said 'Oh, there's Dave'. The chap looked round and said, 'That's Dave Shannon isn't it.... I work with him'. It tuned out that Dave and my rescue lift from the M6 had been for a drink that very same lunch time. Talk about coincidence.
Thanks to Dave & Pam for the lift, to Mike for collecting up my music and music stand, and for the offers of a lift back to Polesworth - Norman and Betty 'did the honours' in the end. Sorry I didn't get chance to see everyone and say thank you - we went before the end - it meant a double journey for Norman and we had to find Carol somewhere in Bridgtown.

We sang with our usual gusto at the outdoor Switching on of the Brewood Christmas Lights,  and our Traditional Christmas Concert went well and was brilliantly supported.  We entertained the Norbury Boat Club, once more at the Stirrups Pub, just before Christmas and also went carol singing around the village pubs to collect money for charity.  Our Spring Concert with the wonderful Soundcrew and Summer Concert with the Brass and Showband from Abraham Darby not only went well, but were again so well supported.
